Label inspection, OCR & barcodes

Label inspection with machine vision checks on every product that the right label is present, straight and legible. With OCR and barcode reading, the same system reads best-before dates, batch codes and serial numbers right on the line.

What is label inspection and OCR?

OCR (Optical Character Recognition) allows a vision system to recognise text, even in industrial environments. Think of expiry dates, batch codes or serial numbers. Label inspection goes one step further: we check whether the correct label is in the right place, printed correctly and fully present.

These applications are ideal for quality assurance and traceability in sectors such as food, pharma and logistics.

Scanning barcodes with machine vision

With machine vision we can automatically scan 1D and 2D barcodes at high speed. Unlike traditional scanners, a vision system can read multiple codes at once and verify position, orientation and presence.

We support EAN, QR, DataMatrix, Code128 and more. Results can be communicated directly to PLC, MES or robot for further processing.

Print quality control

Incorrect labels or poorly readable codes can lead to rejects or recalls. That is why our systems check presence, alignment and print quality. Any deviations are reported in real time.

With our AI technology we can even recognise and validate dynamic information, for example when the layout varies by product type.
