Technology & integration in Machine Vision

The key to a reliable vision system is the right optics, lighting and mechanical integration.

Optics and positioning

Every high-quality Machine Vision solution starts with good lighting. Accurate measurements are only possible in a controlled, stable light situation. Ordinary TL or LED lamps are often not suitable due to flicker or shadowing. That is why we use industrial lighting: dome lights, backlights, coaxial or even infrared and UV sources — depending on material and application.

Another essential part is optics and sensor selection. Based on the smallest defect or measurement to detect, we calculate the right lens, resolution and sensor format. We often ask for samples of both good and defective products so we can determine exactly what is feasible.

With this input we determine FOV (field of view), DOF (depth of field) and WD (working distance). These parameters are crucial for determining the physical installation position of the vision system — whether it concerns a new installation or a retrofit.

Lighting is everything

Without good lighting even the best camera does not work. We select lighting based on material, gloss, texture and required speed. Think of dome lighting, backlight, coaxial lighting or multispectral.

We work with specialized partners to develop custom lighting specifically for your application. This creates a constant light environment suitable for high speeds and reproducible measurements. In some cases we use flash lighting, in others hyperspectral or multispectral imaging, which captures unique material information.

Together we ensure a consistent, reproducible setup — the foundation for any form of automatic inspection or AI-supported analysis.

Integration with the machine

Finally, we ensure integration with existing systems. Our systems can communicate with robots, PLCs, delta pickers and SCADA systems via protocols such as Profinet, Modbus or EtherCAT. This makes vision not only an observation instrument, but also a controlling part of your automation.

Even in hygienically sensitive environments such as the food industry we can deliver. Thanks to IP-rated enclosures, sealed connections and rugged hardware, we provide a vision system that fits any industrial environment.
